FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jakarta, Indonesia – July 28, 2025: Indonesia’s Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) has officially begun drafting halal certification guidelines for cosmetics, marking a major step forward for the country’s regulatory framework.

These new requirements are set to come into force on October 17, 2026, and will apply to both domestic and international cosmetic brands aiming to sell in the Indonesian market.

“The guidelines will form a crucial foundation to ensure that halal certification for cosmetic products is practical, efficient, and aligned with industry needs,” stated Abd Syakur, Deputy for Partnerships and Halal Standardization at BPJPH.

With over 85,000 cosmetic products already certified halal in Indonesia according to BPJPH, including 7,500+ imported products as of July 2025, there is clear evidence of both consumer demand and regulatory momentum.

Update: AHF’s Mutual Recognition with BPJPH

In recognition of our global credibility and technical rigor, AHF signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) with BPJPH on February 20, 2025, which was officially issued on April 30, 2025. This MRA confirms AHF as the officially recognized halal certification body in the USA authorized to certify manufacturers for exports to Indonesia under Indonesia’s mandatory halal law.
