The Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) is Indonesia’s top Muslim clerical body. The division responsible for all Halal affairs is formally known The Assessment Institute for Food, Drug and Cosmetic (LPPOM MUI). LPPOM MUI is responsible for all halal regulatory affairs in the Republic of Indonesia including monitoring imports and their halal status and accrediting the Halal certification agencies that certify products sold to Indonesia.

The Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura also known as the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore is a statutory board in Singapore. As a majlis, its role is to look after the administration and interests of Singapore’s Muslim community. The council presides as a regulatory authority on all halal affairs in Singapore.
